    Prefers full sun to part shade in medium dry soils. Grows up to 3’ in height and blooms August to October. A non-aggressive rhizomatous root system allows the plant to spread slowly.

    The beautiful late blooming flowers attract many different pollinators. Smooth Blue Aster is also a host plant for the Silvery Checkerspot and the Pearl Crescent butterflies. - Prairie Moon Nursery

  • Why Courtney loves it

    I absolutely love the color of the Smooth blue aster’s flower heads. On a misty or foggy day the bluish-lavender rays seem to almost glow. I think asters are one of the most under rated species of native plants - they are so important for late season pollinators and they are truly beautiful!
