Open Farm Day is an extra special day to visit a farm and discover more ways to enjoy farm products year-round! Maine's Open Farm Day allows visitors to explore host farms throughout the state on the fourth Sunday in July (7/27/25), rain or shine. Activities at Figwort Farm include:
Self-paced scavenger hunt for kids: everyone who finds all items on the scavenger hunt receives a FREE wild strawberry plant!
Take a walk through our un-mowed field and learn all about native plants and why they’re important through interpretive signage.
10:30AM, 12PM and 1:30PM Guided tours of the nursery - see the baby plants and learn why we grow from seed and why we don’t use a greenhouse.
Our native, seed-grown plants will be available for sale, as well as Courtney’s hand embroidered hats and wall hangings.
Select plants on sale Buy 2 GET 1 FREE! Swamp milkweed, Virginia mountain mint, Broad leaf mountain mint, Tall anemone, Maximilian’s sunflower and New England aster will all be included in the sale (more may be added!)
