Join us for the annual Camden Native Plant Sale and Celebration on Sunday, September 14 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM to purchase sustainably-grown native plants from local vendors in the beautiful harborside Amphitheater in the heart of the Midcoast! This event is put on by Wild Ones Midcoast Maine in partnership with Camden Public Library. RAIN DATE is Sunday, September 28.
There will be shopping from local native plant nurseries, educational booths with various organizations; conversations with native plant growers and garden experts; two speakers; music; kids activities, and more! This is a great opportunity to learn more about native plants and incorporate them into your own garden and yard.
Speakers & Guests
10 a.m. “Ask an Expert: Choosing the right Native Plants for My Yard” with Pete Beckford
12 noon: “My Garden Transition to Safely Grown Native Plants” with Jonathan Cohen
Also welcome Guest of Honor Rachel Bok Goldman, the granddaughter of the library parks benefactor, Mary Louise Curtis Bok Zimbalist — both women ahead of their times and champions of Maine’s beautiful native plants.
Kids’ Activities: Adventure Yards
Kids’ activities will be provided by Adventure Yards! Come explore, climb, and create. The nature play zone right in the middle of the Amphitheatre is made for little adventurers to have supervised fun while you shop for plants.
Featured Artist: Cassie Sano
Plein air artist and children’s book author Cassie Sano will be painting en plein air and displaying her works featuring native plants and habitats throughout the day.
